A changing “pad” becomes a changing “station” when it is a self-contained unit, able to hold a pad, diapers, wipes and other sundries. There is no shortage of these stations on the market, but ISM identified the need for improvements everywhere.
Problem 1 – a changing pad should be machine washable and water resistant – most vinyl pads are not washable. Cotton pads are not water resistant. ISM Solution – design a 2 piece station with a removable washable (and waterproof) pad with a protective nylon cover or shell which may be washed separately as needed.
Problem 2 –changing stations are often either too bulky for easy storage, or too thin to provide baby comfort. ISM Solution – provide strength without adding bulk by using light weight denier nylon covers. (These stations can convert almost any briefcase, backpack or tote into an organized diaper bag.) Provide comfort with sueded pad covering and soft cotton batting for the pad.
Problem 3 – many pads do not include a means to attach to a stroller or other baby equipment. ISM Solution – both styles, the LilyPad and the DadPad include appropriate hooks, clips and straps to keep them within reach just about anywhere.
